Reflectivity rules
Colorado prohibits tint with a metallic or mirrored appearance (C.R.S. 42-4-227); the statute sets no reflectivity percentage. Mirror or chrome-finish tint is not permitted. Polar Tint installs non-metallic Nano Ceramic film, well below the reflectivity limit.
Medical exemptions
Colorado does not have one. C.R.S. 42-4-227 sets the tint standard and lists its exceptions, and a physician-based medical waiver is not among them — the 27% VLT limit applies to every driver. Some other states do publish a medical-exemption pathway; Colorado's statute does not.
- A doctor's note will not exempt a Colorado-registered vehicle from the 27% limit
- If sunlight is a medical problem, we install the most protective film that still meets the limit — 99% UV rejection at every grade

Front Range climate considerations
Colorado altitude UV is materially higher than at sea level. Polar Tint Nano Ceramic film blocks 99% UV at every VLT, including the 70% VLT. Pair tint with ceramic coating on paint for full UV protection.
