Polar Tint · Reference
Nevada Revised Statute NRS 484D.440. Quick reference for legal Visible Light Transmission (VLT) limits on passenger vehicles in Nevada. Polar Tint installs to these specifications.
| Window | Minimum VLT | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windshield | n/a | AS-1 strip across the top only (~5 inches) |
| Front side | 35% VLT | Both driver and passenger |
| Rear side | Any darkness | 5% limo dark is legal |
| Rear window | Any darkness | 5% limo dark is legal |
Window tint may not be more than 35% reflective in Nevada. Polar Tint installs non-metallic Nano Ceramic film with reflectivity well below this threshold (typically <10%).
Nevada DMV issues medical exemption permits for tint below 35% VLT on front side windows. Process:
| Pairing | Front sides | Rear sides | Back glass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Privacy maximum | 35% | 5% | 5% |
| Stepped privacy | 35% | 20% | 5% |
| Heat focus (light) | 50% | 35% | 35% |
| Heat focus (clear) | 70% VLT | 35% | 35% |
Nevada Highway Patrol and local PDs do enforce. Most citations come from traffic stops where officers identify illegal tint visually before approach. A modest moving-violation fine applies. Citation requires film removal or re-inspection before clearing.
