PPF Care Checklist
Post-install care for Polar Tint Paint Protection Film. Self-healing urethane is durable, but a simple care routine keeps it looking flawless for 10+ years.
First 48 hours — cure window
Hours 0-12
Edges still settling. No washing. Avoid high-pressure water near edges.
Hours 12-48
Adhesive curing. Light rain OK. Hand-wash only if necessary.
Day 3+
Full cure reached. Touchless laser-jet washes OK from this point.
Ongoing — what to do
Hand-wash with PPF-safe soap. Ammonia-free, non-abrasive. Two-bucket method.
Touchless laser-jet washes are safe and effective. Brush washes are NOT.
Use the self-healing feature. Light scratches and swirl marks disappear with warm water from a hose or sunlight exposure.
Inspect edges quarterly. Properly installed PPF edges are invisible and stay flat. Report any lifting to Polar Tint — covered under warranty.
Pair with ceramic coating for hydrophobic top layer + chemical resistance. PPF protects against impacts; ceramic adds the chemical defense.
What NOT to do
Don't use automatic brush washes. Rotating brushes can lift edges.
Don't apply heat directly to edges. Heat guns or steamers near edges can compromise adhesive.
Don't use solvent-based cleaners. Acetone, lacquer thinner, harsh wheel cleaners — keep away from PPF.
Don't power-wash edges directly. High-pressure water aimed at PPF edges can lift them. Wash from a distance.
Don't ignore tar / bug splatter. Self-healing handles scratches, not bonded contaminants. Use PPF-safe bug remover or warm soapy water.
