VLT vs IR rejection are different: A 70% VLT tint rejects ~50% of infrared heat without looking dark. Polar Tint Ceramic Ultimate Plus (darker VLTs) rejects up to 98% IR. UV rejection is 99% across every VLT.
What VLT means
VLT = Visible Light Transmission. The percentage of visible light that PASSES THROUGH tinted glass. Lower VLT = darker tint. Higher VLT = lighter tint.
VLT measurement is on the COMBINED window (OEM glass + aftermarket film). Most factory glass starts at ~70-80% VLT. Applying 50% film to 80% factory glass gives ~40% combined VLT.
