Tesla Window Tint in Henderson and Las Vegas: Model 3, Y, S, X and Cybertruck
Non-metallic Nano Ceramic film for the Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck, installed in-shop at Polar Tint Henderson on Middlegate Rd. It is designed not to interfere with cell signal, GPS or keyless entry, rejects up to 98% of infrared heat and stays inside Nevada's tint rules.
Quick answer — what tint should go on a Tesla in Henderson and Las Vegas?
Non-metallic Nano Ceramic. Polar Tint Henderson installs it in three tiers: Premium Ceramic (up to 70% IR rejection), Ceramic Plus (up to 90%) and Ceramic Ultimate Plus (up to 98%). All three block 99% of UV and are designed not to interfere with cell signal, GPS or keyless entry.
Nevada requires at least 35% light transmission on the front side windows, measured through the film and glass together. The rear side windows and back glass can go darker when the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides. Every Tesla install is locally quoted at a free estimate and backed by the Polar Tint Promise.
Why does a Tesla need non-metallic window tint?
A Tesla leans on radio signals all day: cellular connectivity, GPS navigation and keyless entry, including phone-as-key access. Metallized window film rejects heat with a reflective metal layer, and that same layer blocks radio frequency. That is why Polar Tint Henderson does not install metallized film on any vehicle, and does not install dyed film either.
Nano Ceramic works differently. It uses non-conductive ceramic nanoparticles that reject infrared heat and are designed not to block radio frequency. All three Polar Tint tiers are fully non-metallic and designed not to interfere with:
- Cellular connectivity and GPS navigation
- Keyless entry, including phone-as-key
- Garage remotes and toll transponders
- Tire-pressure sensors
It is the same rule the shop applies to every EV that comes through the bay: Nano Ceramic only.
Which Tesla windows can be tinted, model by model?
Every current Tesla has side windows and rear glass that take the tier you choose in a Nevada-legal shade. What changes from model to model is the big glass: panoramic windshields, glass roofs and oversized rear windows.
| Model | Glass worth knowing about | How Polar Tint handles it |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 | Steep rear glass and a panoramic glass roof | Ceramic Plus or Ultimate Plus is the usual pick; the shop uses computer-cut patterns specific to each model year, then hand-tunes the heat shrink |
| Model Y | The largest single-piece glass roof in the lineup | Henderson heat soak on the roof is intense, so filming it is strongly recommended; your installer confirms timing with your written quote |
| Model S | A long-wheelbase sedan with a dark interior and a steep, concave rear window | Ceramic Plus or Ultimate Plus; the rear window demands an experienced heat-shrink technique |
| Model X | Falcon-wing doors and a panoramic windshield | The falcon-wing doors limit the working angle, so extra time is scheduled; Nevada limits windshield film to a strip at the very top |
| Cybertruck | A large flat windshield and steep rear glass | Ceramic Plus or Ultimate Plus is recommended because the stainless skin reflects heat into the cabin glass area |
Many EVs ship with factory-treated glass, so the film has to work with the OEM glass rather than against it. That is one reason every Tesla gets Nano Ceramic here, and why roof glass is always talked through in person before anything is cut.
How much heat does ceramic tint block on a Tesla?
That depends on the tier. All three are non-metallic Nano Ceramic with 99% UV rejection and the same Polar Tint Promise; what changes is how much infrared heat each one rejects. Darkness (VLT) is chosen separately.
| Tier | IR rejection | UV rejection | VLT options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium Ceramic (Good) | Up to 70% | 99% | 5%, 15%, 35%, 50% |
| Ceramic Plus (Better) | Up to 90% | 99% | 5%, 15%, 35%, 50%, 70% |
| Ceramic Ultimate Plus (Best) | Up to 98% | 99% | 5%, 15%, 35%, 50%, 70% |
For EVs, the shop points owners to Ceramic Plus or Ceramic Ultimate Plus. Ultimate Plus earns its place on vehicles with a lot of glass area, such as a glass roof or a big rear window, and on cars that sit outside in full sun all day. The full breakdown is on the ceramic window tint in Henderson page.
One honest footnote: “up to 98% IR rejection” describes the infrared band, which is roughly 53% of the sun's energy. It is not 98% of all heat. The all-in number is TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected), which is usually lower than the IR figure, and you can ask for the TSER spec on your chosen tier and shade at the free quote.
Will window tint improve my Tesla's range?
We don't promise a range number. Rejecting infrared at the glass keeps the cabin, seats and steering wheel cooler after the car has been parked in the sun, so the climate system has less heat to pull out when you get back in. How much of that turns into range depends on the model, the weather, how long the car sits and how you drive.
What you can count on is on the spec sheet: up to 98% IR rejection on the top tier and 99% UV blocked on every tier, which helps protect both you and the interior.
How dark can you legally tint a Tesla in Nevada?
Nevada's rules come from NRS 484D.440, and they apply to a Tesla the same way they apply to any other car:
- Front side windows: non-reflective, with at least 35% light transmission measured through the film and glass together.
- Rear side windows and back glass: any darkness, as long as the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides that give the driver a view at least 200 feet to the rear.
- Windshield: only a strip across the top, with its bottom edge at least 29 inches above the driver's seat, and never red or amber. That includes the Model X panoramic windshield.
Polar Tint Henderson explains exactly where these limits fall before you book. Nevada allows a medical exemption: you apply in writing to the Nevada Highway Patrol (Department of Public Safety) using its Application for Window Tint Exemption, with a sworn statement from your treating physician, and the approved exemption must be kept in the vehicle; our Nevada medical tint exemption guide walks through the steps, and Polar Tint's Nevada window tint law page covers the full rules.
Do you tint other EVs?
Yes. The same non-metallic rule covers every EV that comes into the shop: Polar Tint Henderson installs only non-metallic Nano Ceramic, never metallic or hybrid film, on a Tesla or any other EV. Our Tesla window tint guide for Henderson has per-model notes and the popular shade pairings.
Should I add paint protection film or ceramic coating?
Tint helps protect the cabin; the paint needs its own plan. Paint protection film and ceramic coating are both common add-ons when a new EV is delivered:
- Paint protection film is self-healing, with coverage from a Track Package up to Full Vehicle, for the rock chips and highway grit of I-15, I-215 and US-95.
- Ceramic coating is 3M ceramic coating in standard and premium tiers, for hydrophobic gloss that rolls dust and grime off the paint.
Not sure which comes first? The ceramic vs PPF decision guide covers the order of operations.
How does a Tesla tint appointment work?
- Book a free estimate. Call (702) 665-6009, send a message or stop by 799 Middlegate Rd. The shop is open seven days a week, 8am to 5pm.
- Pick your tier and shade. An installer walks the car with you, confirms the film tier, shade and coverage and explains Nevada's limits. You get a written quote with the film tier, coverage, install date and warranty terms.
- Install in the shop. All automotive tint is done in-shop in a dust-controlled bay. Shop time depends on the glass count, the roof glass and how curved the cuts are, and your installer confirms timing with the written quote.
- Let it cure. Wait 3 to 5 days before rolling the windows down so the adhesive can cure fully.
