Quick answer

What window tint should I get in Las Vegas?

Choose non-metallic Nano Ceramic. Polar Tint installs it in three grades: Premium Ceramic (up to 70% IR rejection), Ceramic Plus (up to 90%) and Ceramic Ultimate Plus (up to 98%). Every grade blocks 99% of UV and is designed not to interfere with phone, GPS or keyless signals.

Nevada requires front side windows to let in at least 35% of light, measured through the film and glass together (NRS 484D.440). Polar Tint installs the darkest shade that keeps your front side windows within Nevada law once it is measured with your factory glass.

Three Nano Ceramic grades

Compare the Polar Tint ceramic grades.

Every Polar Tint shop carries the same three Nano Ceramic grades. Same Polar Tint Promise on all three.

GradeInfrared (IR) heat rejectionUV blockedShade (VLT) options
Premium Ceramic (Good)Up to 70% IR99%5%, 15%, 35%, 50%
Ceramic Plus (Better)Up to 90% IR99%5%, 15%, 35%, 50%, 70%
Ceramic Ultimate Plus (Best)Up to 98% IR99%5%, 15%, 35%, 50%, 70%

All three grades are non-metallic Nano Ceramic, installed by Polar Tint Certified installers and backed by the Polar Tint Promise. What changes between grades is how much infrared heat is blocked at the glass. Polar Tint does not install dyed film or metallized film.

A note on the numbers: “98% IR rejection” means up to 98% of the infrared portion of sunlight, not 98% of all the heat. The whole-spectrum figure is TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected), which is usually lower than the IR number. Ask for the exact TSER spec on your chosen grade and shade at your free quote.

Why Las Vegas

Why window tint matters more in the Las Vegas desert.

Window tint earns its keep harder in Las Vegas than in most U.S. cities, because the Mojave sun doesn’t ease up for eight months of the year. On a 110°F-plus afternoon an untinted cabin can bake past 130°F, and UV exposure fades leather and dash plastic.

The wrong film makes it worse: dyed or carbon film rejects less infrared heat than ceramic, and metallized film blocks the wrong things, like cell signal, GPS and keyless entry. Non-metallic Nano Ceramic rejects infrared heat at the glass with no metal layer, so it is designed not to interfere with phone, GPS or keyless signals.

Sunlight is roughly 53% infrared (the radiant heat you feel), 44% visible light and 3% ultraviolet. Infrared rejection is what separates the three Polar Tint grades; UV is blocked at 99% on all of them. For vehicles parked in unshaded driveways and lots, Ceramic Plus and Ceramic Ultimate Plus are the grades to look at. EV owners can benefit too: less air-conditioning load can help preserve summer range.

Nevada tint law

Nevada window tint law (NRS 484D.440).

WindowMinimum VLTNotes
Windshieldn/aOnly a strip across the top, with its bottom edge at least 29 inches above the driver’s seat; not red or amber
Front side windows35%Both driver and passenger; non-reflective, measured through the film and glass together
Rear side windowsAny darkness5% limo dark is legal with outside mirrors on both sides
Rear windowAny darkness5% limo dark is legal with outside mirrors on both sides

Anything below 35% VLT on the front side windows is outside the Nevada legal limit. If you want the darkest legal look, Polar Tint picks the darkest shade that keeps your front side windows within Nevada law once it is measured with your factory glass, and can also show you high-IR ceramic options that keep the front legal while still cutting heat.

Nevada allows a medical exemption: you apply in writing to the Nevada Highway Patrol (Department of Public Safety) using its Application for Window Tint Exemption, with a sworn statement from your treating physician, and the approved exemption must be kept in the vehicle. The exemption covers only the vehicles listed on the application, and the form states that no exemption below 20% VLT will be approved. Once approved, the shop can install film to the specs on your exemption.

Common questions

Las Vegas window tint, answered.

What is the legal window tint VLT in Nevada?
Nevada requires at least 35% VLT on front side windows, measured through the film and glass together, and allows any darkness on the rear sides and back glass as long as the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides. The windshield is limited to a strip across the top whose bottom edge sits at least 29 inches above the driver’s seat, and it can’t be red or amber. Each Polar Tint shop explains the rules before we book so you know exactly where the limits fall.
How much IR heat does Polar Tint actually block?
Premium Ceramic blocks up to 70% of infrared heat. Ceramic Plus blocks 90%. Ceramic Ultimate Plus blocks 98%. All three tiers block 99% of UV. IR is the wavelength you feel as heat, so the higher the IR-rejection figure, the cooler the cabin stays in the Mojave summer.
Will Nano Ceramic tint interfere with my phone, GPS, or keyless entry?
All three Polar Tint Nano Ceramic tiers are non-metallic and designed not to interfere with cell signal, GPS, satellite radio, garage door openers, or keyless entry. This is the main reason we don’t install metallized film.
Will window tint void my factory warranty?
No. Professionally installed aftermarket window tint does not void any factory vehicle warranty — the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects you from that.
Do I need to drop my car off overnight?
No. Polar Tint does not keep your vehicle overnight on routine automotive installs. You get an exact time estimate at booking based on your specific vehicle — sedans typically same-day, larger SUVs and complex installs may take longer.
Do you tint the windshield?
Nevada law allows windshield film only as a strip across the top, with its bottom edge at least 29 inches above the driver’s seat, and the strip can’t be red or amber. We install that strip; we don’t film the rest of the windshield.
Where can I get car window tinting in Las Vegas?
Polar Tint installs ceramic window tint for cars, trucks, and SUVs at two Las Vegas shops, Las Vegas – Summerlin and Las Vegas – Spring Valley Ranch, plus a Henderson shop in the east valley, with every install backed by the Polar Tint Promise. Book a free, no-obligation quote at the shop nearest you and we’ll walk you through the ceramic grades.
